Rain or Shine, we always need volunteers!
|
General Volunteers:
Here is a volunteer form, it gives you some ideas of
things / types of people we need. However, we are
surprised every year with 1) new things pop up that
we need, and 2) when someone had a skill in an
area how we can put it to use even if we never have
before!
So, take a look, but also feel free to share what you
do and let us know how you can help even if it is
not listed! Click here for the volunteer form.
Chaperon Registration Requirements:
Chaperon is a very special job. It is just what it sounds like, riding along with the students making sure everyone is safe
and sound. It is not as hard as you think, and I have almost always had positive responses from the students - it is great
to be called by the term "dad" or "mom" by them.
Chaperon's no longer need to be TB tested (coaches and staff still do). However - it is still mandatory to register with the
district and have a fingerprint screening completed.
Drop us a note for more info or call the AUHSB District HR Office for the latest on the process - (714) 999-3511. Note, if
you have been registered before (for helping at the Jr. High for example) you don't need to re-register, but Savanna
needs to get that information. Send Mr. Belski a note or call the school office (and give us the full name that you
registered as) and they will get it transferred over.
Football Games and Tournaments:
When the fall Marching Show goes on the road, whether it is to support our football team or to
perform at tournaments, there are always a group of parents that go with them to perform
various volunteer tasks. The size of the group depends on the event, but usually is 10 to 15
- Chaperoning
- Uniform checks and repairs
- Driving the pit cart and helping the pit on to the field
- Loading and unloading support
- Helping with the students needs
There is much more! To find out more or sign up come to our next parent meeting - or contact
our parent band representative.
Spring Events:
The same goes for the spring events (Winterguard, Drumline, concerts, etc) except usually a
smaller group is needed for each event since usually only one or two individual groups perform
at a given event - a smaller group of students that means - but there are more numerous
events! So we still need lots of help.
For tournament volunteer information see the bottom of the page.

TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS
For more information, drop a note to Lori, our Tournament Chair - email me
|
The Tournament is a big task - so big that the tournament chair is working on it almost all year long. This year we are
fortunate to have Lori Aguirre returning as our chair, bringing several years of experience to running this event.
However, Lori can't do it alone! Whether it is helping planning or helping that day, there is something for everyone to do.
Planning / Committee - just as you can run down the list of things "to do" at the tournament - food, transportation,
cleaning crews, etc - there is someone that helped plan them. Come join us at our next meeting, or drop Lori a note to
see how you can help.
Set Up - Friday, November 21st, is "set up" day. Well, we don't usually set up actually in the stadium until the next
morning since there is a football game the night before, but we "empty" the sheds and load the trucks so we are ready to
go the next morning. Also, we have to pick up any rental items (lights, grills, etc) and buy our perishable food. Plenty of
jobs. Meet at 8am for breakfast at Norms and we are usually done early in the afternoon.
Tournament Day - Saturday, November 22nd, is THE day. Everyone is needed! We work from 6 AM to Midnight (and
even a few until 2:30AM last year!). The more that are their, the easier it is for all of us.
Adults - we divide the day into 3 shifts, Morning, Afternoon, and Night. We usually run from 6 AM until 12 midnight (or a
little later). We need adults for every shift to work all sorts of things - in fact, many parents work several shifts or the
whole day to help out. For an idea of the types of jobs see our assignment sheet.
Parent help is so important, that everyone is requested to be there. As an incentive, each student that brings an adult to
work for them earns a $75 credit to their student account! In addition, volunteers are eligible for some great prizes in our
volunteer raffle!
Students - Band and Colorguard student shifts are a bit longer - 2 shifts during the day. Sign ups are done in class with
Mr. Belski.
Other Students - Since our Band & Colorguard do perform during the tournament, the students have about 2 hours
where they are gone (change, warm-up, and perform). That is a long time to be away from their station. So we have had
lots of generous support from campus and other groups that can come in for a few hours to help out - Key Club, Cheer,
and other clubs have come to help out by filling in these shifts. We always could use some more!
Clean Up - Sunday, November 23rd, everything that came out of the sheds has to go back! Some things have to be
taken home and cleaned for next year. Ugh. But the more the people the easier it is. Also we send home things that
need to be cleaned or repaired. Join us around 10AM at the school.

Go Rebels!
